Jason Berry and A.J. Loria - New Orleans Music Show

The New Orleans Music Show is a lecture-with-music that takes visitors on a historical journey from the antebellum slave dances at Congo Square through the birth of jazz, circa 1900, unto the rise of rhythm-and-blues and modern day Mardi Gras Indian music.

Author Jason Berry guides guests down the byways with verbal cameos of Louis Armstrong, Danny and Blue Lou Barker, King Oliver, Pete Fountain, Fats Domino, Professor Longhair, Aaron Neville and others. The lecture is spiced with humorous anecdotes about the city's raffish splendor.

Accompanying Jason on piano is A. J. Loria, one of the town's most popular performers, weaving medleys between the lecture sequences. Songs include "When the Saints Go Marching In," "Saint James Infirmary," "Careless Love," "You Rascal, You," "Walkin' to New Orleans," "Big Chief," "If Ever I Cease to Love,""Mardi Gras Mambo" and others.
